Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has developed a special heavy-duty forklift featuring a cabin that shields against radiation, for safer handling of contaminated rubble near the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station operated by Tokyo Electric Power Company, Incorporated (TEPCO). Two units of the forklift are to be delivered to a joint venture formed by Taisei Corporation, Kajima Corporation and Shimizu Corporation that is handling the contaminated rubble at the site.

Luminant and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), today announced they have established a joint venture to further the development of Comanche Peak Units 3 & 4 using MHI’s US-Advanced Pressurized Water Reactor (US-APWR). The joint venture, known as Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Company, will fund project development costs during the period preceding the issuance of the combined license (COL) to build and operate Comanche Peak Units 3 & 4. Under the terms of the joint venture, Luminant holds an 88 percent ownership share in the company and MHI has a 12 percent stake.

MHI Receives Order for Control Rod Drive Mechanisms For Nuclear Power Plant in Sweden 08/21/2006
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI; TSE: 7011) has received an order for a set of replacement control rod drive mechanisms (CRDM) for nuclear reactors from Ringhals AB of Sweden. The replacement CRDMs on order are for the No.4 unit at the Ringhals nuclear power station located 60 kilometers south of Gothenburg (Gvteborg), Sweden's second-largest industrial city. The CRDMs are slated for delivery in May 2008. The order means that MHI's CRDMs will now be used in two of that country's three pressurized water reactors (PWR).

In conjunction with that move, the company has also newly established MHI Nuclear Energy Systems Inc. (MNES), a wholly owned subsidiary, in Washington, D.C. The new business arm commenced operations this month with an initial staff of 12.

MHI Receives Order for 2 Replacement Steam Generators For Electrabel Doel Nuclear Power Plant in Belgium - More than half of steam generators operated in Belgium are made by MHI 04/13/2006
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has received an order from Electrabel S.A., one of Europe's front-ranking energy companies, to supply two replacement steam generators (RSG), a core component of pressurized water reactor (PWR) nuclear power plants (NPP). The two RSGs, for the Electrabel Doel-1 NPP, are scheduled for delivery in September 2009. To date, MHI has delivered eight RSGs to Belgium. When the latest order is completed, MHI's RSGs will account for more than half of all SGs operated in Belgium - 10 of a total of 19 SGs at seven NPPs.
