MHI Plants

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. (MHI) has constructed 23 nuclear power plants in Japan using Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) technology. In the 1970s, our first four plants were designed using a reactor system supplied by a U.S. partner and a Mitsubishi turbine system. The other 19 facilities were solely designed, manufactured, and constructed by MHI for Japanese utility customers. We have one PWR unit currently under construction, with commercial operation scheduled for 2009. In addition, two plants using Advanced PWR technology are in the licensing stages and will be built in Japan by 2016.
